More than 50 million Americans have experienced various types of allergies each year, making allergies the 6th leading cause of chronic illness in the United States.

What is an Allergy?

An allergy occurs when your immune system has an adverse reaction to a foreign substance. A reaction can be triggered by something you eat, touch, inhale, or inject into your body. The most common symptoms include coughing, sneezing, itchy eyes, a runny nose and a scratchy throat. In severe cases, it can cause rashes, hives, low blood pressure, breathing trouble, asthma attacks and even death.
